Photo and video recovery

Data recovery for photographers and filmmakers — Warsaw (CFexpress, XQD, SD, RAW)

Lost wedding photos, damaged footage from a film set or a memory card failure after an important event require a fast diagnosis and a safe recovery workflow.

CFexpress, XQD, CFast, SD and external SSD MOV / MP4 RAW, JPG, BRAW, RSV and project folders ✓ Quote before recovery work begins

Recovery support for shoots, edits and client deliveries.

When a wedding card, camera SSD or editing drive fails, every extra write can decide whether the session is still recoverable.

We work with media used in mirrorless cameras, cinema cameras, drones, audio recorders and editing workstations.

Dysk i Spółka - Data Recovery Laboratory in Warsaw checks the card, SSD or drive before recovery work begins, then works from a copy whenever the card or drive is unstable.

Briefly describe the camera, card or drive and the failure circumstances. We will tell you what to avoid so the data is not overwritten.

Typical failures and situations where we help

These are the cases we see most often from photographers, operators and production teams.

Professional cards

We handle all professional memory card standards

CFexpress, XQD, CFast, SD, microSD and older CompactFlash cards used in cameras and recorders.

Professional cards

Can deleted photos be recovered?

At our laboratory in Białołęka, we check the condition of the card or drive electronics, assess the type of damage (logical / physical / firmware) and estimate the recovery chances.

Video

CFast 2.0

Cards from cinema and hybrid cameras, including interrupted recordings and unreadable folders.

Kino

CompactFlash / RED MINI MAG

We work exclusively on a sector-by-sector image (a 1:1 image), never on the original. This reduces the risk of making the media condition worse. It is the standard in professional digital forensics.

Foto

SD / SDHC / SDXC

Photo cards after accidental formatting, deletion, camera errors or sudden 0-file situations.

Drones

microSD / GoPro / DJI

We recover photos and video files while preserving the folder structure (for example DCIM) whenever possible. We verify samples — checking whether RAW files can still be opened and whether videos scrub and play correctly.

Photo or video shoot

External SSD

Portable NVMe/USB-C drives used on set or in editing workflows, including Premiere, DaVinci and Final Cut projects.

Archive media

Memory Stick / xD / MMC

The recovered data is copied to your drive or to a new storage device.

To maximise the chances of success:

Failures where the first decision matters

Stop using the original card, SSD or drive as soon as the failure appears.

Deleted photos or formatting

Stop shooting on the card. New photos or clips can overwrite file records and preview data.

Interrupted video recording

Stop using the card or SSD and do not record new files.

Card asks to be formatted

Do not confirm the format prompt; first secure the card for diagnosis.

Card shows 0 MB / not detected

Stop using the card and avoid formatting; the controller or file system may be unstable.

Slow readout and I/O errors

Repeated copy attempts can increase read errors, so work should start from a safe image.

Damaged video file

Interrupted MOV, MP4, BRAW, RSV or camera-specific files may need file-level reconstruction and sample verification.

Drive with an editing project

We protect Lightroom, Capture One, Premiere, DaVinci and Final Cut project folders before recovery work continues.

Drone or GoPro footage

Small cards from drones and action cameras often need careful imaging before any file repair attempt.

Call before running more tests on the original device.

Emergency checklist

How to protect the media after failure? (Emergency checklist)

Photo/video equipment familiarity

We understand media from Sony, Canon, Nikon, RED, Blackmagic, DJI, GoPro and common recorder workflows.

Work on a copy, not the original

Unstable media is imaged first whenever possible, so recovery and file repair do not stress the original.

RAW/MOV/MP4/BRAW/RSV support

We verify recovered files with real opening and playback checks, not only file-count statistics.

Fast decision before a deadline

We help you decide whether further work on the original drives is safe.

Quote before recovery work begins

You receive the scope and price before paid recovery work starts.

Sample file verification

We check whether selected photos, RAW files or video clips open correctly before handoff.

To maximize the chance of success, stop further writes and secure the device from additional attempts.

How to secure the device after a failure?

These first steps matter before you choose a service path or send the media to the lab.

Do this now

  • Stop recording on the card, SSD or drive.
  • Label the card or drive and note the camera model, file format and last successful recording.
  • Keep the original media separate from backup or delivery drives.

Do not do this

  • Do not format the card in the camera.
  • Do not record test clips "to see if it works".
  • Do not run repair tools or long scans on unstable media.

Tell us what failed: card, SSD, external drive, camera, drone or editing archive.

An SD/microSD card will not open, asks to be formatted, or RAW/JPG photos are missing after a shoot.

Most common situations for photographers and filmmakers

Card after a shoot

A CFexpress/CFast card suddenly became invisible or shows 0 files after recording.

Professional media

An external NVMe SSD with footage (Premiere/DaVinci) is not detected or shows 0 MB.

SSD with an editing project

Premiere, DaVinci, Final Cut or Lightroom folders are trapped on a drive that stopped mounting.

HDD with video footage

A drive with video slows down, interrupts copying, or shows CRC/I/O errors.

Video files and recording media

MOV, MP4, AVI and camera-specific video files

  • microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards from GoPro, DJI Mavic/Mini and action cameras.
  • CFexpress, XQD, CFast and SD cards from professional cameras.
  • External SSDs such as SanDisk Extreme or Samsung T5/T7 used for offloading footage on set.
  • HDD and SSD drives with editing projects, proxies, cache files and camera originals.
